Who we are

OutHere is a product of THEAPPSFACTORY LLC, 8 The Green Ste B, Dover, DE 19901, United States. You can reach us at appfactorybks@gmail.com or +1 (934) 213-0741. This policy covers the OutHere iOS app, the outhereee.com website, and the OutHere text message invitation program. If you need this policy in an alternative format, email us and we will provide one.

Overview

We collect only what is needed to make OutHere work, we never sell your data, and the things you post are shown only to the people you share them with.

Information we collect

We collect your phone number (to create and secure your account), your name, username, and profile photo (so friends can recognize you), and the signals, comments, and poll votes you post. With your permission, we also use your contacts and your location as described below.

Contacts

If you connect your contacts, their phone numbers are sent to our server to check which ones already have OutHere accounts. Numbers checked this way are used for the match and then discarded, not saved. If you add a contact to a list, we save their name and number so you can text them an invite later, and you can remove them from the list at any time. Contacts are never used for marketing and never shared with or sold to anyone.

Text message invitations

If a friend invites you to a hangout by text message, we store that phone number and the invitation it belongs to, so that the same person is never sent the same kind of text twice about one hangout, and never more than one text every 30 minutes from any one sender. Invitations are sent only to contacts a host selected from their own address book and attested they personally know and have permission to contact; OutHere does not purchase, rent, scrape, or import contact lists from third parties. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Numbers that reply STOP are placed on a permanent opt-out list and are never texted again. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All categories of information described in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. Text messaging opt-in and consent data is never shared with anyone and is never sold to anyone, for any purpose. If you check the box to receive OutHere invite texts on an invite page, we record your verified number, the time, and the wording you agreed to, solely as proof of your consent. We share your mobile number only with the service providers who physically deliver our messages (our messaging platform and the wireless carriers), and for no other purpose. Where anything else in this policy could be read otherwise, this section controls for mobile numbers, text messaging consent, and opt-in data.

Message content and replies

The text of an invitation is composed from the hangout the host created (what, where, and when) together with the host's name. Replies to OutHere texts, such as STOP, START, or HELP, are processed automatically to honor your opt-out and help requests and are kept as a record of that choice. Message content and replies are never used for advertising and are never sold or shared.

Location

If you allow location access, it is used on your device to improve nearby place suggestions while you compose a signal. Your location is not tracked in the background and is not stored on our servers. The place you pick for a signal is saved, because your friends need to know where to go.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, we use them to let you know when a friend starts a signal, sends you a request, or responds to yours. Delivering them means storing a device token for your phone, which we release when you sign out. You can turn them off at any time in Settings.

Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how people move through the app, for example how many finish sign up or send their first signal. These events are tied to your account id. We deliberately do not record your screen, and we never send phone numbers or contact data as analytics data. The outhereee.com website uses the same analytics tool, which stores a small identifier in your browser to count visits and measure whether invite links work; the site has no advertising trackers. Most browsers let you clear or block this storage at any time, and doing so does not affect your use of the site.

Who can see your information

Signals and comments are visible only to the friends and lists you choose. Your profile (name, username, and photo) can be found by people who search for you, which is how friends add you. Anyone you block cannot find you at all.

Safety data

When you report someone, we store the report, what was reported, and who submitted it, so we can review and act on it. We keep reports even if the reported content or account is later deleted, because we need the record to handle repeat offenders. The person you report is never told who reported them.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored with our hosting provider (Supabase) and protected by per-account access controls, so one account can never read another account's private data.

Deleting your data

You can log out at any time. To erase everything, open your profile in the app and tap delete my account: it immediately and permanently removes your profile, photo, friends, lists, signals, and comments. No email is required. You can also reach us at appfactorybks@gmail.com with any question about your data.

Children

OutHere is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account or been texted through OutHere, email appfactorybks@gmail.com and we will delete the child's information.

How long we keep information

Account data is kept while your account exists and is removed when you delete your account. Invitation records (the invited number and which hangout it belongs to) are kept as long as needed to enforce our sending limits and then only as evidence of consent. The opt-out list is permanent, because honoring STOP forever requires remembering the number, and records of text messaging consent and opt-outs are retained as proof that we honored them.

Your privacy rights

In the last 12 months we collected the categories of information described above (identifiers such as your phone number and name, your content, and usage data), used them only for the purposes described above, and disclosed them only to the service providers named in this policy. We have not sold or shared personal information as those terms are defined in state privacy laws, we do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16, and text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from every category we disclose. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information beyond the purposes state law permits. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information (we do neither), and to limit the use of sensitive personal information; you will never be treated differently for exercising a right. Because we never sell or share personal information, opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control do not change how we treat your data, and we honor what they ask for by default. To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app delete-account flow or email appfactorybks@gmail.com; we verify requests by confirming you control the account's phone number, an authorized agent may submit a request for you with proof of authorization, and we respond to every request.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will notify you in the app. Continued use of OutHere after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
